Abstract

We are looking for a creative and inventive Woodland Steward to manage our forested lands. This role is a blank canvas for someone to develop unique projects, from creating nature oases to new business ventures. This is a resident-based position offering free or reduced rent, with a long-term path to potential equity in the woodlands themselves.

This is not a typical land management role. At ColivingLiguria, our outdoor spaces are managed by three distinct roles:

  1. Farmer: Focuses on agriculture and food production.
  2. Gardener: Focuses on the aesthetic and leisure gardens around the houses.
  3. Woodland Steward (This Role): Focuses on the creative and sustainable development of our wilder, forested lands.

The Vision: A Blank Slate for Our Woods

We are looking for someone to take ownership of our forests, primarily the The Cliffside (“Lands Along the Stream”), Terreni alla Fonte (“Lands at the Source”), and Terreni oltre Torrente (“Lands Beyond the Stream”).

As their names suggest, these properties are rich with water sources (“rigoli d’acqua” or rivulets). This role has the most creative freedom and “carta bianca” of any position at ColivingLiguria. We want you to be inventive, set your own goals, and unlock the potential of these lands.

Key Project Areas (Examples of Your Mission)

  • Water Features: Creatively manage and lightly shape the natural streams and water sources to create “luoghi ameni”—pleasant, cool spots for relaxation just a short walk from the house.
  • Creative Spaces: In synergy with the Farmer, design and build unique resources in the woods:
    • Small, hidden offices for remote workers.
    • Creative areas for artists (meditation platforms, land art).
  • Resource Management:
    • Sustainably harvest resources like chestnuts.
    • Explore potential for raising livestock.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Mountain Bike Guide & Trail Designer to ensure trails are integrated beautifully and sustainably into the forest.
  • Expansion: Your creativity is our engine for growth. If we find successful, sustainable applications for our woods, we will look to acquire more and expand this part of the project.

Compensation & Business Model

This opportunity is offered primarily as a resident-based position.

  • Accommodation: We offer heavily reduced or null rent for a place at Location, formalized with a Contract for Residents.
  • Long-Term Partnership: This role is crucial for our long-term vision. For the right person who commits to the project, we offer a unique compensation path: the opportunity to gain equity and co-ownership of the woodlands themselves.
  • Freedom: You will be a full member of the community, free to participate in (or propose) any other Supplementary Projects.

Process & Collaboration

While you have creative freedom, all projects must be developed transparently and in synergy with the founder, Simone Testino. You will be expected to follow the formal process outlined on our Propose a Project page to bring your ideas to life.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Highly creative, inventive, and self-motivated. You are comfortable setting your own goals.
  • You have a passion for nature, ecology, and sustainable land use.
  • Skills in permaculture, forestry, land art, or landscape design are a huge plus, but we value creativity and vision above all.
  • A collaborative spirit, ready to work with the Farmer and MTB Guide.
  • Prepared for a rustic, in-progress renovation environment at Location.
  • English is required; Italian is a plus.

Stiamo cercando un Curatore dei Boschi (Woodland Steward) creativo e ricco di inventiva per gestire i nostri terreni boschivi. Questo ruolo è una “carta bianca” per chiunque voglia sviluppare progetti unici, dalla creazione di oasi naturali a nuove iniziative imprenditoriali. È una posizione basata sulla residenza che offre affitto gratuito o ridotto, con un percorso a lungo termine verso una potenziale quota di proprietà dei boschi stessi.

Questo non è un tipico ruolo di gestione del territorio. A ColivingLiguria, i nostri spazi esterni sono gestiti da tre ruoli distinti:

  1. Farmer: Si concentra sull’agricoltura e la produzione alimentare.
  2. Gardener: Si concentra sui giardini estetici e ricreativi intorno alle case.
  3. Curatore dei Boschi (Questo Ruolo): Si concentra sullo sviluppo creativo e sostenibile dei nostri terreni boschivi e più selvaggi.

Stiamo cercando qualcuno che si prenda cura dei nostri boschi, principalmente i The Cliffside, Terreni alla Fonte e Terreni oltre Torrente.

Come suggeriscono i nomi, queste proprietà sono ricche di “rigoli d’acqua”. Questo ruolo ha la più ampia libertà creativa e “carta bianca” di qualsiasi posizione a ColivingLiguria. Vogliamo che tu sia inventivo, stabilisca i tuoi obiettivi e sblocchi il potenziale di queste terre.

Aree di Progetto Principali (Esempi della Tua Missione)

  • Giochi d’Acqua: Gestire creativamente e modellare leggermente i corsi d’acqua e i rigagnoli naturali per creare “luoghi ameni”: punti freschi e piacevoli per il relax a pochi passi da casa.
  • Spazi Creativi: In sinergia con il Farmer, progettare e costruire risorse uniche nei boschi:
    • Piccoli uffici nascosti per lavoratori da remoto.
    • Aree creative per artisti (piattaforme di meditazione, land art).
  • Gestione delle Risorse:
    • Raccogliere in modo sostenibile risorse come le castagne.
    • Esplorare il potenziale per l’allevamento di bestiame.
  • Collaborazione: Lavorare a stretto contatto con il Mountain Bike Guide & Trail Designer per garantire che i sentieri siano integrati in modo armonioso e sostenibile nel bosco.
  • Espansione: La tua creatività è il nostro motore di crescita. Se troveremo applicazioni efficaci e sostenibili per i nostri boschi, cercheremo di acquisirne altri ed espandere questa parte del progetto.

Retribuzione e Modello di Business

Questa opportunità è offerta principalmente come posizione basata sulla residenza.

  • Alloggio: Offriamo un affitto fortemente ridotto o nullo per un posto a Ville Chiappella, formalizzato con un Contract for Residents.
  • Partnership a Lungo Termine: Questo ruolo è cruciale per la nostra visione. Per la persona giusta che si impegna nel progetto, offriamo un percorso di retribuzione unico: l’opportunità di ottenere quote e co-proprietà dei boschi stessi.

  • Competenze in permacultura, selvicoltura, land art o progettazione del paesaggio sono un enorme vantaggio, ma valutiamo la creatività e la visione sopra ogni altra cosa.
  • Uno spirito collaborativo, pronto a lavorare con il Farmer e il MTB Designer.
  • Preparato a un ambiente rustico e in piena ristrutturazione a Ville Chiappella.
  • È richiesto l’inglese; l’italiano è un vantaggio.
