ECChestnut intermediate floors
A manual limited to the recurring user-declared configuration of chestnut primary members, a small highly friable cementitious topping, and tiles, leading from bay-by-bay evidence to diagnosis, relevant alternatives, temporary works, and signed hold points.

Non-negotiable controls
The procedure stops when evidence is insufficient.
- Chestnut identity and topping friability are user descriptions, not timber grading, a verified build-up, or proof that the topping has no structural or phase function.
- Each bay, both member ends, bearings, moisture, decay, effective section, use, and loads are measured or professionally assessed before an option is released.
- The comparison is limited to retention and local repair, selective replacement or sistering, conditional timber-concrete action, and a justified red route for complete replacement.
