“1920s Walls, 1950s Aesthetics, 2025 Technology”

The guiding motto for the restoration of Coliving Liguria.

🧱 1920s Walls (The Canvas)

We start with respect. The core structure of Casa del Forno (built approx. 1920s) is solid stone. Our philosophy is preservation first.

  • Stone & Lime: We do not use cement renders that suffocate the walls. We use breathable bio-lime plasters or expose the original stone where appropriate.
  • Thermal Mass: We leverage the thick walls for natural temperature regulation, avoiding synthetic insulation that would disrupt the building’s physics.
  • Imperfection: We embrace the wabi-sabi of slightly uneven surfaces and historic patina.

📻 1950s Aesthetics (The Style)

The 1950s represent a time of optimism, color, and functional design—a perfect metaphor for the “rebirth” of this property.

  • Mid-Century Modern: We curate furniture with clean lines, tapered legs, and wooden warmth (Teak, Walnut) typical of the era.
  • Palette: Warmer tones like Sage Green, Terracotta, Deep Mustard, and Clay.
  • Materials: Brass fixtures, velvet upholstery, terrazzo or hex-tile floors.
  • Lighting: Globe lights, sputnik chandeliers, and warm dimmable ambience.

🛰️ 2025 Technology (The Engine)

While the house looks vintage, the engine is cutting-edge. We implement an “invisible layer” of modern tech to support a digital nomad lifestyle.

  • Connectivity: High-speed Starlink internet distributed via a Wifi 7 Mesh network (Ubiquiti/Omada) covering the entire property, including outdoors.
  • Smart Energy: A 6kW Smart Hub manages loads intelligentially.
  • Efficiency: Induction cooking (no gas), Heat Pump readiness, and smart thermostatic valves (Shelly/Tado) for remote heating control.
  • Automation: Home Assistant integration for monitoring consumption and security without obtrusive screens.

Implementation

This philosophy is currently being applied in the Sub 5 Renovation.
